Turkish Airlines will be a big part of the airport however the first flight will not be with Turkish Airlines, they will fly 18 hours after the opening. The first flight to leave the new airport will go to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The airport is so popular that it has been confirmed that 3 of the worlds largest cargo operators have tried to secure rental space at the new airport. These are UPS, DHL and FedEx.
With over 100,000 m2 of floor space and parking for over 25,000 vehicles, 42 km baggage handling system and a cargo capacity of 5.5 tonnes, this airport will be in its own league, well maybe after a few normal teething problems.
